On Nov. 14, City Council voted to grant Perry’s
rather than calling for his resignation as originally planned. It is unclear how long Perry will be on leave and how long the interim representative will have to serve in his place.The applicants that make it to Thursday morning’s council meeting will make a three-minute statement before council members ask them questions. Each of these interviews will take about 10 minutes, said Deputy City Clerk Aurora Perkins.
Originally a final selection was going to be made on Dec. 15, but Perkins said the timeline was moved up so that the district could have a representative as soon as possible. District 10 Chief of Staff Paul Jimenez — who previously served under Gallagher — said the district office has been able to run smoothly despite Perry’s absence.“I don’t know who else has put their names forward,” Jimenez said Monday morning before the names of all applicants were posted online at the end of the day, “but I’m sure whoever is in there, it’s going to be fine.”
