Seventeen motorcyclists were found riding without a valid licence and without insurance coverage near the Woodlands Checkpoint on Oct 26.
They were among the 196 motorcyclists stopped for checks during a multi-agency operation conducted by the Traffic Police with the National Environment Agency and Land Transport Authority .
LTA also found 21 motorcycles with improper licence plates, an offence which carries a fine of up to $1,000, imprisonment of up to three months or both. Repeat offenders are liable to a maximum fine of $2,000, a jail term of up to six months or both. The offence of using a motor vehicle without insurance coverage carries a maximum fine of $1,000, a jail term of up to three months or both.
