The Victorian home that was located at 1452 Carlton Street was built in 1873 for Samuel Noble, who was part of a merchant family which operated a wharf on Water Street.
submitted by Zwicker Zareski Architecture & Planning , on behalf of 3088962 Nova Scotia Limited. The Rouvalis family is planning to build two towers – 28- and 29-storeys high – at the corner of Robie and College Streets.
Barss said she’s puzzled by the fact that 1452 was being moved off its foundations when that wasn’t in the plan. The developer did not respond to a request to for an interview this week. “No injuries have been reported related to the incident and two stop work orders were issued to the developer, 3088962 Nova Scotia Ltd. One of those stop work orders has been lifted,” she said in an email.
The house was an “integral part” of the Carlton Victorian Heritage Streetscape that was designated in 1985, Needler said. It’s a collection of 17 mid- to late-Victorian homes built between 1861 and 1906 on what used to be the South Common.
