The Super Aqua Club in Pointe\u002DCalumet, in the Laurentians, is closed on Saturday, the day after a 14\u002Dyear\u002Dold girl drowned in the water park facilities.
Everything indicates at the moment that the teenager drowned after slipping in one of the facilities of Super Aqua Club.
“The entire Super Aqua Club team is in shock and in mourning,” read a message from the company on its Facebook page. “We are wholeheartedly with the family and friends of the victim. We wish to express our deepest condolences to them. You will understand that in such circumstances, we have taken the decision to close the water park to customers, this Saturday, July 23.
The Super Aqua Club will offer support to its employees in collaboration with Lifesaving Society and social workers,” the message states.The young girl was found unconscious by the Super Aqua Club rescuers and they began resuscitation maneuvers. The teenager was transported to Saint-Eustache hospital.
“For now, the main hypothesis is that it is an accidental drowning. There is nothing to suggest that it is something criminal or negligent,” Jean-Philippe Labbé, head of media relations for the Lac des Deux-Montagnes police department, said Friday evening.
