The suspect has been charged with uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm.

It is unclear at this time what kind of threat was directed at the institution or if the child attended the school.

“As a young person is involved, we will not release any info that will potentially identify them,” Toronto police told The Star.on Wednesday after a group of children threatened to shoot at the institution. Access from outside the school was not permitted throughout the day, as the exterior doors to the building were locked, and students remained indoors. The hold and secure measures were extended until the end of the school day. Police assisted with the dismissal of students and staff.

“We anticipate continued Police presence in the area tomorrow,” read a letter sent to parents, guardians and caregivers at Weston Collegiate.
