BREAKING: 14 more U.S. service members have been diagnosed with traumatic brain injury following the Jan. 8 Iranian missile attack targeting American forces at two Iraqi bases, Pentagon says, bringing the total number to 64.
Two service members were awaiting transportation to Germany from Iraq, and two others who had been transported to Kuwait for reasons other than traumatic brain injury but have since been diagnosed with TBI are awaiting transportation to Germany, Campbell said.
The chief Pentagon spokesman, Jonathan Hoffman, said last week that a lot of TBI symptoms develop late and manifest themselves over time. Trump's remarks prompted the commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars to say Trump minimized the troops' injuries, and he expected an apology from the president.
