Most remakes are pointless, but some are better.

While it feels like movie remakes are a more modern problem, they have been around almost as long as the art form itself.
10 The Parent Trap While there is a certain charm and nostalgia to the 1960s version of The Parent Trap, almost every element of it was eclipsed by Disney's 1998 remake. The first film directed by rom-com legend Nancy Meyers, this remake proved the once-in-a-generation talent of not only its director but also its star Lindsay Lohan. Despite her young age, Lohan seamlessly pulls off playing separated twins, to the point where it is easy to forget there aren't actually two of her.
Focusing more on the real-world politics of 1970s Berlin, Suspiria is scary in a much more oppressive and brutal way than the original's dream-like reality. A score by Radiohead's Thom York and Tilda Swinton in three separate roles are just icing on the cake with this stylish and scary horror film. Almost twice as long as the original, and with less mainstream appeal, 2018's Suspiria is a remake that can stand completely on its own.
