Nearly the whole of the county was treated to a show of purples and greens as the Northern Lights shone in all their glory. Starting at around 11pm, the display was one of the clearest seen in the country.conditions meant the aurora borealis were visible further south than usually expected. It is possible the northern lights will return for a second viewing on Saturday.
