Exactly 100 years ago today, former Regina sports lover L.D. 'Pete' Parker made Canadian hockey history from a makeshift radio booth at Regina Stadium.

On the whim of an idea from CKCK chief engineer Bert Hooper, Parker set up in a tiny booth at the south end of the rink. Eight days later, on March 22, 1923, Foster Hewitt — “he shoots, he scores!” of Hockey Night in Canada fame — broadcast a senior Ontario Hockey Association game in Toronto.
