Nine men and one woman, aged between 22 and 71, are under police investigation for their suspected involvement in a case of conspiracy to commit cheating involving telecommunications fraud.
The police said they were alerted to a road traffic accident involving a car and a van along Yishun Avenue 11 on June 11, at around 6.10am.
They added:"While attending to the accident, officers discovered 125 SIM cards from multiple mobile service providers in the car."Through follow-up investigations, officers from Woodlands Police Division uncovered a fraud scheme which involved the forgery of business registration profiles. The subjects would allegedly use these profiles to apply for mobile plans and the corresponding mobile phones. They would then sell the mobile phones for profit and retain the SIM cards for other illicit purposes.
Two men, aged 22 and 29, have been charged with an offence of fraudulent possession of properties, which carries a jail term of up to one year and/or a fine of up to $3,000.
