Here are 10 things viewers should remember about Number One before Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 2.
Commander Una Chin-Riley , better known by her moniker Number One, was perhaps the most mysterious character going into Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, but season 1 revealed many things about her complex history. Strange New Worlds brought back several characters who had made appearances in Star Trek: The Original Series, and Number One might be the one audiences knew the least about.
9 Number One Rescued Her Best Friend, La’an As revealed in Strange New Worlds' series premiere, La'an Noonien-Singh grew up on a colony ship and was the only survivor when that ship was attacked by the Gorn. An Ensign at the time, Una was a crew member on the ship that rescued La'an. Una was instrumental in helping La'an recover from her ordeal, and La'an joined Starfleet because of Una.
6 La’an Replaced Number One Twice As First Officer In the pilot episode of Strange New Worlds, La'an was assigned to the Enterprise as acting First Officer while Una was missing. After the mission to rescue Number One from Kiley 279, Pike offered La'an a permanent position on the Enterprise as Security Chief. Later, in Strange New Worlds episode 4, "Memento Mori," La'an must step up again after Number One is incapacitated by an injury.
