The Glasgow giants are on the lookout for their next boss after Michael Beale was shown the door.

It is less than a year since the Londoner left QPR behind to return to Ibrox - where he had enjoyed a successful spell as Steven Gerrard's assistant - to replace Gio van Bronckhorst as manager. But after a bumper signing spree in the summer Beale has failed to turn Rangers around. The club are sitting seven points behind Celtic in the race for the Scottish Premiership title and October has only just started.

Kevin Muscat Kevin Muscat was part of Alex McLeish’s Rangers Treble-winning side 20 years ago after moving to Ibrox from Wolves and the 50-year-old has carved out an impressive managerial CV, having also worked under former Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou. He won the J-League with Yokohama F Marinos last season after succeeding Postecoglou, as he had at Melbourne Victory where he worked for six years.

Reports had claimed that Potter had already rejected a move to Govan as he wants to manage a side in the Champions League. However, with the boss remaining out of work a switch to Rangers - and the chance to secure that next season - could reboot his career. Marcelo Gallardo The former River Plate manager has been out of a job since December after stepping down from the Argentinian giants. Gallardo stayed for more than eight campaigns lifting one league title, two Argentinian cups and two Copa Libertadores until he finally stepped down at the end of 2022.

Kjetil Knutsen Kjetil Knutsen was previously touted as a potential frontrunners for the hot seat when Gio van Bronckhorst left the club. He led Bodo/Glimt to back-to-back Norwegian titles while also making his mark on the Europa League and Europa Conference League. His was axed by the Cherries and failed on a European adventure with Club Brugge - but picked up Champions League experience along the way in Belgium. A fresh start in Glasgow could be perfect for both parties.
