The victim, whose identity has not been disclosed, was found in their room where the fire was contained, McKeon said. He noted that no one else was hurt in the blaze.McKeon said that amid the fire, residents were temporarily relocated to another part of the facility and later returned — thus no one was displaced as a result of the incident.
The Ridgecrest Apartments, which opened in 1984 and house more than 150 residents, are subsidized by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development,The senior housing facility directed calls to the Housing Authority of Bergen County, which did not immediately provide comment.
